CCCC Pledges to Deal with Aftermath of Construction Accident
OREANDA-NEWS. November 07, 2012. In the caisson works of the artificial island of Chek Lap Kok Hong Kong International Airport, part of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, an accident occurred on October 25, leaving one dead and 14 others injured. CCCC has learned about the accident and immediately sent a task team to the scene for an investigation and assistance, reported the press-centre of CCCC.
According to sources, during “diaphragm stud barrel construction”in the reclamation works of the artificial island, a dozen workers were operating on the workbench in a barrel, when the workbench plummeted, the workers hit hard objects and got injured, the accident cause is yet to be confirmed until after the investigation. Following the accident, the staff on the scene gave first aid, and the project department launched the emergency plan by rushing the 15 injured workers to Tung Chung terminal to be transported by ambulances to Princess Margaret Hospital, Yan Chai Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
CCCC pledges to assist the relevant departments of the Hong Kong Government in evaluating and investigating the accident, regrets for the company for which the victims work, and will bear due liabilities according to relevant procedures and rules. Also, CCCC is concerned about the injured workers, has sent relevant staff to the hospital to see them, make inquiries and give assistance on the accident scene.
