OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2012. ТNК-ВР reports the expansion of the associated petroleum gas (APG) utilization program: total investment in these projects will increase 12.7% to 62 bn rubles by 2015. Most investment is planned for 2012 – about 17 bn rubles, which is 25% more than last year, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

TNK-BP has been implementing a large-scale program to increase the value-added use of APG since 2009. It covers all the company upstream assets in Russia and includes over 50 projects. The Orenburg Integrated Project is among the major ones. It envisages the construction of extensive infrastructure for APG gathering, transportation, treatment, and processing. The project will create additional opportunities for APG commercial use in the Pokrovskaya, Bobrovskaya, Zapadnaya and Vostochnaya groups of fields of OJSC Orenburgneft.

In 2012, investment in the final stage of the Orenburg project implementation will amount ca. 10 bn rubles. The commissioning of the second train of the Zaikinsky Gas Processing Plant and the Pokrovskaya Gas Treatment Unit will allow increasing the value-added use of APG in the Orenburg region to 2,200 mmcm in 2013, which is 40% more than in 2011.

"Increased APG utilization level is an important part of the program to minimize environmental impact. In addition, rational use of APG has a significant economic effect resulting from gas processing and heat and power generation for the entities' internal requirements. Today we have already achieved good results in KhMAO, the next stage is the commissioning of new capacities in the Orenburg region in 2013. In 2014–2015, our main focus will be on the activities at the company greenfields. The implementation of this program will allow increasing the value-added use of APG by 4.2 bcm including production growth," says Elena Kompasenko, TNK-BP Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment
