OREANDA-NEWS. November 06, 2012. For the eighth year running the MERLION company is included in the list of the top Russian companies according to the rankings of the Forbes and Expert magazines, reported the press-centre of MERLION.

The leading business publications, the Forbes magazine and the Expert magazine, published their yearly rankings of top Russian companies. The MERLION company is among the few in the industry appearing on the lists of top companies for the eighth year running. This year, too, its position in the ranking is the highest among the companies representing the IT distribution market.

In the Forbes ranking of the top non-public companies of Russia MERLION is at No. 25 (this year the company rose three positions up from line 28). Since 2005  MERLION is annually included in the top fifty of the Forbes ranking list.

How the ranking was calculated
The editors include in the list the companies with stock not present on the stock market. Those are closed joint stock companies, limited liability companies and groups of companies doing business together and being controlled by a common owner. Open joint stock companies belonging to one or several (but no more than 10) groups of owners are also taken into account. Companies are ranked according to their profits in 2011. The list does not include banks, insurance, leasing, investment and other financial companies due to their significant differences from trading and manufacturing companies in what concerns business and accounting.

The Expert magazine published the results of the annual ranking "Expert 400 – the top list of the biggest Russian companies". This year MERLION is on the 84th position. Let’s note that it’s the eighth year (since 2005) that the company makes it to the upper hundred of this influential ranking list.

About the list
The key factor in compiling the Expert 400 top list is the index of volume of sales of products (work, services). When, because of the specifics of the company’s activities, this index cannot be used (for example, for banks or insurance companies), financial records closest to it in economic substance are used. The participation in the Expert 400 ranking is not limited by industry. As a result it includes companies from practically every major sphere of economics. The company’s position on the list was determined by ranking it according to the volume of sales of products (works, services).
