Zaporizhstal Increased Production Comparing to September, 2012
OREANDA-NEWS. November 02, 2012. In October, 2012, “Zaporizhstal” Integrated Iron & Steel Works continued improving the indices of the productive efficiency achieved earlier in September.
Except production increase, in October comparatively with September, 2012, the operational indices of the enterprise efficiency have been also improved. So, in October, due to application of the efficiency reserve and reduction of the operational losses, the lowest consumption of skip coke have been achieved — 376 kg/t (in September, 2012 — 378 kg/t) and the highest index of hot metal production in one nominal day have been achieved — 9,333 t (in September, 2012 — 9,215 t), which corresponds to the output of 2.1 t of hot metal per 1 cubic meter of the Blast Furnace. Hot metal production of 281.3 thou. tons in October, 2012 is the highest index achieved in the whole history of the Works at three Blast Furnaces.
In steelmaking production, the average consumption of the metal charge in October made up 1,109.3 kg/t against 1,117.9 kg/t in September (1,170 kg/t in July, 2012). In the Cold Rolling Mill Shop, consumption of metal had been reduced up to 1,081.4 kg/t comparatively to the index of 1,086.6 kg/t in September (operational data).
“In current situation, when the world metallurgic development forecast is rather pessimistic, the problems of operational efficiency and losses reduction come in the forefront particularly sharply”, — underlined Rostislav Shurma, the General Director of JSC “Zaporizhstal”.
