Minsk Plans to Lure USD 950m in Direct Foreign Investments in 2013
OREANDA-NEWS. November 2, 2012. The municipal authorities of Minsk plan to draw USD 950 million in direct foreign investments in 2013, Denis Yeremenko of Minsk City Hall’s Economic Committee told a press-conference.
At the moment, there are 128 investment contracts worth in excess of USD 3.7 billion being implemented in Minsk. So far 11 foreign investment projects have been finalized in Minsk to the tune of USD 40 million.
In the meantime, Minsk City Hall has prepared 85 areas as sites for perspective investment projects.
At the moment, the municipal authorities screening the territory of Minsk in search for locations, which could host investment projects (shops, office buildings, filling stations, car service stations, etc), Yeremenko said. The locations will be put up for auction. So far the municipal authorities have received 50 applications.
At the moment, the municipal authorities are busy making preparations to move large industrial enterprises outside the city limits.
In the framework of the 5th investment forum in Minsk on November 15, 2012 the municipal authorities will take potential investors on a tour of downtown areas, where investment projects will be implemented: Minsk-1 Airport, an area between Yakub Kolas Street and Maxim Bogdanovich Street, Belexpo Exhibition Centre, Municipal Hospital #2, the building of the former printing and publishing centre to be converted into a hotel in Krasnaya Street, OJSC Sukno, OJSC Belarusian Wallpaper.
