OREANDA-NEWS. November 01, 2012. Rosneft President and Chairman of the Management Board Igor Sechin took part in a ceremony celebrating the commissioning of a number of social facilities in Neftekumsk in the Stavropol region, reported the press-centre of Rosneft.

Construction work is now complete on a regional health centre and block of apartments, while secondary school No. 3 has been fully renovated and refurbished. These projects were financed by Rosneft, which has extensive operations in the Stavropol region, as part of a programme to improve social infrastructure in the region. The Company set aside near 700 million rubles for this aim in 2011 - 2012.

The new Neftekumsk regional health centre is designed to accommodate 650 patient visits per shift and fully complies with all existing requirements. It also features the latest in diagnostic and medical equipment. The health centre offers a paediatric clinic, an anti-tuberculosis office, bronchoscopy and tomography rooms, a biochemical laboratory, a pressure chamber and a pharmacy. Deliveries of nutrition for children have also been arranged.

At the opening ceremony, which was also attended by Stavropol Region Governor Valery Zerenkov and Neftekumsk District Head Mikhail Tovchigrechko, it was noted that the options offered by the new health centre mean that Neftekumsk’s residents no longer need to travel to Stavropol for treatment and that the quality of medical services available in the town has been dramatically improved.

In Neftekumsk’s micro-region No. 3, a ceremony was held in which the keys were symbolically handed to residents of a new housing block. The ceremony also saw the commissioning of the renovated secondary school No. 3. Rosneft financed work on these two buildings and construction of the health centre.

Speaking at the ceremony, Igor Sechin noted: "Neftekumsk isn't just a name on a map. It is home to great people, home to oilworkers. It is our responsibility to breathe new life into Neftekumsk and we will most certainly do this." He also promised to pass on words of thanks from Neftekumsk's residents to Vladimir Putin, on whose initiative these facilities were commissioned.

Aside from the considerable support it provides for social programmes in the Stavropol region, the Company also makes comprehensive efforts to ensure stable oil production at 1 million tonnes a year. In 2011, Rosneft’s management took the decision to invest 6 billion rubles in this programme over five years.

The majority of fuel sold in the Stavropol region on the retail market is provided through Rosneft’s filling stations. The Company firmly supports stability of fuel supplies in the region and monitors fuel quality and service at its filling stations. Rosneft provides special support to agricultural producers in the Stavropol region.

All of these efforts are carried out under an agreement on mutual cooperation in oil and gas production, oil product supply, the development of social infrastructure and the environment concluded between Rosneft and the Stavropol region administration.
