FAS Discussed Medical Supervision in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2012. Representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) took part in the XIV Annual National Conference “State Regulation in the Field of Circulation of Drugs and Medical Products – PharmMedObrashcenie 2012”, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
On 24th October, the Head of the FAS Department for Social Sphere and Commerce, Timophey Nizhegorodtsev, addressed the plenary session “Providing Accessibility of Medical Assistance –a Social Goal of the Modern Society”, where he made a presentation about the problems and prospects of medical supervision in Russia and its role in providing accessibility of medical assistance. He raised the issues of the weakness of today’s medical supervision, especially emphasizing its fragmentation and absence of Articles in the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Violations, specifying liability for violations in the field of health care. Then Timophei Nizhegorodtsev discussed the problem of adequate powers and infrastructure for supervision in this sphere, concerning life and health of the population.
Timophey Nizhegorodtsev also took part in the sectional session “Pressing Issues of Drug Pricing”, where Deputy Head of the FAS Department for Control over Social Sphere and Commerce, Nadezhda Sharavskaya, reported about the problems of the existing system of administrative fixing of prices for vital and essential medicines and FAS proposals for a transition to a system of medicine compensation (“Prospects of Regulating Prices for Medicines in Russia”).
On 25th October, at section meetings, Deputy Head of the FAS Department for Control over Social Sphere and Commerce, Yulia Yermakova, informed about FAS proposals towards improving the law on health care, and Deputy Head of FAS Unit for Health Care and Social Policy, Sergey Nikolayev, discussed the problems of state procurement of medical products.
