Omani Delegation Visited Uzbekistan
OREANDA-NEWS. October 31, 2012. The delegation of the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, headed by Secretary General Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It has been noted that the relations between Uzbekistan and Oman are consistently developing on all directions, an important legal basis of which are agreements, reached during the meetings of the heads of the two states. The state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov to the Sultanate of Oman elevated the relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
The parties exchanged views on the pace of implementation of agreements, reached during this visit and pressing issues of further developing bilateral relations. It was noted that traditional links, mutual endeavour to enhance cooperation serve as an important factor for developing Uzbek-Omani dialogue.
The relations between Uzbekistan and Oman are consistently developing on the basis of mutual respect and trust. Consultations between the foreign political entities are held regularly. Intergovernmental agreements on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, non-admission of double taxation of income, prevention of tax avasion, on trade-economic cooperation, air transport, as well as several documents in construction, higher education, tourism, investments, oil and gas sector, chemicals constitute the legal basis of Uzbek-Omani relations.
During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan a particular attention was paid to investment cooperation. It was noted that a positive experience of mutual cooperation was accumulated in this sphere. The Omani guests were informed about the opportunities at Navoi free industrial-economic zone and Angren special industrial zone. The parties exchanged views on implementation of cultural-humanitarian projects.
- We are pleased with dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Oman in many spheres, - said Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi. - Our visit was fruitful in terms of considering the issues of utilising existing opportunites for further development of our relations. We hope that bilateral cooperation will continue to advance consistently in the future.
The members of the delegation of Oman also held negotiations at the Ministry of foreign economic relations, investment and trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The second round of Uzbek-Omani consultation was held at the same day.
The guests visited the State museum of the history of Timurids and Hazrati Imam complex.
