Tata Power Inaugurates Light Pipes at Power House No 6
OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2012. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has once again taken the initiative to provide eco-friendly and sustainable means of electricity by inaugurating light pipes at their stores at the Power House No 6 plant as a part of its Greenolution campaign. The high-impact strength, UV stable, light collector collects sunlight from all directions and delivers it effectively throughout the day, even in areas receiving very low sunlight. The speciality reflective system delivers high luminance without colour shift even on cloudy days. The intensified sunlight in light pipes is controlled and distributed into indoor spaces by lighting diffusers. Lauding the initiative, Dinesh Kudalkar, head, Jojobera thermal power plant said, “The Power House No 6 team has put in tremendous efforts to ensure that the Greenolution initiative leads the way for sustainability movement. We are also working on techniques to provide light during night hours and ensure that artificial lighting arrangement is used only as a back-up at stores.”
Under the energy conservation and efficiency initiatives, the Power House No 6 team had implemented the solar light bottle initiative in March 2012, and has now come up with a unique concept of light pipes at their main stores. The light pipes make full use of sunlight and ensure that natural light is appropriately used during daytime.
