TCS Will Set up Large Software Development Campus in Indore
OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2012. Indore: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, consulting and business solutions firm, announced that it will set up operations in the state of Madhya Pradesh by building a new integrated campus in Indore for IT and BPO, with an initial investment of Rs550 crore in the first phase. The total development area of the campus is expected to be around 1.5 million square feet. Once all the applicable permissions are received, the construction of phase I is expected to be completed by March 2016.
The TCS Indore campus will be located on a 100 acre property allotted by Madhya Pradesh government. An agreement to this effect was signed by TCS and officials of the state government at a function in the city today and presided over by the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
On completion, the TCS campus will provide direct job opportunities to 10,000 associates in phase I. Besides direct job opportunities, there is an estimated indirect job opportunity for another 10,000 people in supporting functions and professions like e-waste management, facilities management, transportation, hotel and hospitality, restaurants, utilities and financial, banking and other services. Moreover, during the design and construction phase of approximately four years, there will be employment opportunities for about 2,500 construction workers.
The TCS Indore campus will be a state-of-the-art facility with a distinct style that blends local culture and aesthetics with several world-class features. The facility is designed with an inherent flexibility and will comprise software engineering blocks, training centre, amphitheatre, customer care centre, auditorium as well as facilities to offer a holistic environment to knowledge professionals.
Designed with water bodies and green areas, the TCS Indore campus will incorporate several green building concepts such as zero discharge with 100 per cent recycling of sewage, energy efficient systems, rain water harvesting systems and integrated building management systems. A high rating will be targeted to highlight the sustainable and eco-friendly nature of the campus.
