Uzbekistan Government Discusses Results of Economic Activity for 9M
OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2012. At the opening of the event it was noted that high economic growth rates have been consistently maintained in our country. The manufacturing sector is witnessing a dynamic and balanced growth, structural reforms aimed at diversifying key industries and increasing export potential are deepening, the efficiency and competitiveness of industries, production complexes and enterprises of the industry is on the rise due to modernization, technical and technological renovation of production processes.
At the session of the government, dedicated to discussion of the results of socio-economic activity for 9 months of 2012 the issues of ensuring macroeconomic development of the country and improving competitiveness of the economy was comprehensively considered and deeply analyzed at the meeting. Due to consistent and purposeful implementation of the chosen reform and modernization model of the country, built on the evolutionary path of development and five principles, developed by the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Uzbek economy not only reliably resists negative impact of the ongoing crisis of the global economy, but also preserves macroeconomic stability, sustainable high rates of economic and social development.
During the first 9 months of this year, GDP growth constituted 8.2 percent. Industrial output of the country rose by 7.2%. As a result of measures taken to support exporters and to further enhance the export potential of industries, total exports increased by 12.4% compared to same period of last year.
Improvement of business environment allowed to create 18,400 new small and private businesses in nine months of 2012. Share of small and private businesses grew up to 51%.
The processes of structural change in manufacturing are deepening. As a result of the systematic implementation of the comprehensive program for developing manufacture, expanding production and developing new types of competitive products for the 9 months of this year, high rates of growth of industrial production was maintained.
The order of the President Islam Karimov "On the priorities of industrial development of Uzbekistan in 2011-2015" dated from 15 December 2010 underlined the need to further promote cooperation within industries and localization of production, to create conditions for the rapid development of small businesses and entrepreneurs in industry, to distribute industrial production in all regions of the country and on this basis to ensure import substitution, to create of new jobs and increase employment, incomes and living standards.
The purpose of the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange is to help business entities to optimize production, to strengthen and develop of intra-and inter-sectoral cooperation, to promote greater awareness of the products produced in the country, to assist in finding partners and to conclude contracts between local producers, including for export.
Traditionally, the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange is conducted in two stages: the first stage of regional and sectoral trade fair takes place in the first half of the year, which were held in March and June this year, the second is the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange.
Last year, more than 1,000 companies attended the 5th International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange. During the five days of the forum was over 70,000 people visited the fair. More than 6500 kinds of products manufactured in Uzbekistan, including about 420 new types were exhibited.
At the current forum more than 1,100 domestic companies and nearly 1,000 representatives of foreign companies from countries such as Germany, Italy, Latvia, South Korea, China, Poland, Russia, Turkey and others are taking part. For visitors of the International Industrial Fair and Cooperation Exchange the entire infrastructure of the National Exhibition Company "Uzexpocentre", namely the four exhibition halls, two atriums, 4 open areas, conference and meeting rooms of the international trade center, hotel, catering points are in service.
