OREANDA-NEWS. October 30, 2012. Within the framework of the visit of "Korea Telecom" corporation’s delegation led by its President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Lee Suk Chae, a lecture on the theme: "The role of information technologies in the economic development" was organized. This event was attended by the representatives of over 50 various ministries and agencies of the Republic of Uzbekistan, reported the press-centre of Uzbektelecom.

At the opening ceremony it was noted that the relations between Uzbekistan and South Korea have been developing in all directions, an important legal basis of this are the agreements reached during the meeting of two presidents. The state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea which took place in September this year, defined new directions in the relations between two states, particularly in the field of information technologies.

In Uzbekistan South Korea is considered as a dynamically developing modern country with enormous economic, industrial and technical and intellectual potential, demonstrating stable growth through wide and active implementation of advanced information technologies.

The main purpose of the event is the expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Korea for the development of information and communication technologies, in particular in the formation and implementation of various services with the use of ICT in public administration.

During the lecture, the importance and role of information and communication technologies in the development of sectors and spheres of the economy was noted. The development and wide use of information and communication technologies enhances the effectiveness of management at all levels, on governmental and non-governmental sectors of economy, promotes cooperation between the state and its citizens through free and rapid access to information.

The participants in detail acquainted with Korean experience of implementing information technologies in various sectors of economy and social spheres, including banking, health care, management of social infrastructure.

For the delegation of "Korea Telecom" corporation a tour to the Museum of the History of Communications was organized, where the participants with great interest get information of the history of Uzbekistan, since ancient times to the present day.
