OREANDA-NEWS.  October 29, 2012. Under the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, QP’s Research & Technology Department is showcasing its research programs and activities at the Joint Qatar Foundation Annual Research Forum and Arab Expatriate Scientists Network Symposium 2012, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.

The three-day event, which is currently ongoing until October 23 at the Qatar National Convention Centre, brings together distinguished researchers and scientists from within the Middle East region and other parts of the world. Among the main highlights during the opening of the event was the unveiling of the Qatar National Research Strategy, which outlines the country’s vision to be an international centre for research excellence and scientific innovation.

“The Annual Research Forum 2012 is an opportunity for QP Research to present our research programs and activities, and QP’s strong presence in the event reflects our firm commitment to the objectives of the Qatar National Research Strategy as QP aims to be at the forefront of research and technological development in the regional and global oil & gas industry,” said Dr. Nasser Saqer Al-Mohannadi, Manager for Research & Technology at QP.

The activities of QP’s Research & Technology Department revolve around four major focus areas, namely oil and gas operations, subsurface, downstream, and the environment. It currently undertakes various research projects in collaboration with universities, science institutes, technology providers and international oil & gas companies.
