Total Operating Time of PS-90A Engines Exceeds 1 mln Hours
OREANDA-NEWS. October 26, 2012. In October, 2012 the total operation time of PS-90A engines, mounted on "Tu" aircrafts, within the whole period of application has exceeded 1 mln and equaled to 1 000 991 hours.
In the moment the airlines of three countries - Russia, Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Cuba - operate 41 "Tu" aircrafts (aircrafts of Tu-204 and Tu-214 families of various modifications), which are furnished with PS-90A engines. Since the beginning of 2012 Perm engines have been operated on-wing of "Tupolev" airplanes for more than 86 thousand hours, or 22 840 flight cycles. Furthermore, the operation time of the engine without removal for repair has exceeded 2000 flight cycles.

- It's symbolic that the other important achievement of the operation of PS-90A engines was gained in the days of celebration of the 90th anniversary of OJSC "Tupolev Design Bureau". Through all these years Perm engine builders and the designers of the bureau have been working in the tightest partnership, which had opened plenty of bright pages in the history of world and national aviation.
Today our close cooperation continues to develop: Tu-204SM aircraft is now finishing its certification tests, and the road to the sky for it had been opened by PS-90A2 engine, developed together with Pratt & Whitney Company and having improved operational performance. Also, resource characteristics of currently operated PS-90A engines will be significantly increased in the framework of their modification to the state -of-the-art PS-90AZu version, adapted in OJSC "Perm Engine company" production.
For reference use - the most famous aircrafts furnished with Perm-produced engines, developed in Tupolev Design Bureau:
Tu-2 - battle-field dive bomber, equipped with ASH-82FN engines is considered to be one of the best dive bombers of the Second World War.
Tu-4 - long-range heavy bomber - the Soviet "flying fortress"- was equipped with the most powerful piston engines ASH-73-TK in the post-war world.
Tu-124 - short-haul aircraft, furnished with D-20P engines, developed and produced in Perm - the first passenger aircraft with turbofan bypass engines in the world.
Tu-134 / Tu-154 - the most world-famous and mass-produced aircrafts of national civil aviation, their engine D-30 in its all modifications was the basic engine of the Soviet civil aircrafts in 60-90ties of the 20th century.
