OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2012. Under the economic downturn pressure, North Anhui's economic and social development bucked the trend to maintain rapid growth since the beginning of this year. Statistics showed that from January to August the growth rates of its industrial, financial, investment, consumption and other indicators were higher than the provincial average, while the counties' economy also keeping high growth.

Consisting of six cities and five counties along the Huaihe River, the North Anhui's land area and total population accounted for 38% and 53.5% of the province's total respectively, which occupied an important position in the province's economic and social development pattern. Anhui province introduced a series of supportive policies to accelerate its development, such as increasing financial support, promoting industrial development, building modern parks, and strengthening the talent construction.

The industrialization rate in North Anhui region rose from 30 percent to 40.4 percent with increasingly prominent industrial dominance, while financial, logistics and other modern service industries also showed a trend of rapid development.

Through years of efforts the provincial-level development zones in North Anhui increased to 47. And the ecological environment and residents' living standard also improved a lot in the process of economic development.
