OREANDA-NEWS. October 25, 2012. High School of Economics organized an international research-to-practice conference - “Modernizing Legal Institutions: the Challenges of our Time”, coinciding with the 15-year anniversary of the Law Faculty and the 20-year anniversary of the National University – High School of Economics, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Anton Ivanov, the Chairman of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, and Tamara Marshkova, a retired judge of the Constitution Court, took part in the Conference.

The Conference participants discussed pressing problems of developing judicial, legislative and executive branches of power in Russia. They analyzed the state of legal institutions supporting economic activities, and evaluated the training system for legal personnel. A special session, organized by the Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) at the High School Of Economics, was focused on competition law.

“In July 2012 Sorbonne hosted a Round Table; and thanks to this event, in which FAS participated, we have been able to invite foreign participants. Today the working language of our Conference is English, which allows speakers representing the Antimonopoly Service to get out ideas over to the broad community and all experts engaged in antimonopoly efforts. We expect that this practice will make our policy for competition protection more understandable for the international community”, pointed out the Head of FAS Analytical Department, Alexey Sushkevich.
