MegaFon Offers 4G in Vladimir and Tula
OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2012. MegaFon has begun offering the 4G communication services to the citizens of Vladimir and Tula. At the same time the company has launched in those cities an active sale of 4G modems of MegaFon enabling users to appreciate the advantages of the new technology.
The beauty of 4G against the standards of the preceding generations is the highest data transmission rate and the fastest rate of mobile device response (PING). Its average response rate is twice as high as the 3G rate. The average data rate in the existing 4G networks of MegaFon already exceeds 20 Mbitps, several times higher than the 3G rate. This rate is expected to enable the customers of MegaFon to handle the “heavy” content, play the online games, watch mobile HD video and use regular Internet services.
Presently about 80 base stations ensure the operation of the 4G network in Vladimir and Tula. Later this year the network coverage will spread to the cities of Kovrov and Murom in the Vladimir Region, according to the plans.
The subscribers of MegaFon can enjoy the new technology by using the company 4G modems already available in the operator’s own shops for 1,990 rubles. Each buyer will get a free package including 5 GB of data traffic valid within two weeks.
MegaFon is leading by mobile Internet services among the bigger operators in the Vladimir and Tula regions. In the Vladimir Region its mobile data revenue share is around 50%.
MegaFon has hooked up around one million mobile devices in in the Vladimir and Tula regions.
“MegaFon mobile Internet subscribers across the central districts of Russia is rising along with their demand for a better service quality. The new generation network is expected to ensure an efficient Internet access due to a high data rate. The company plans to expand the 4G coverage throughout other large district centers of the region,” said Alexander Pronichev, director of the Vladimir regional office of the Central Branch of MegaFon.
MegaFon started offering the 4G services to its subscribers across several Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, Novosibirsk, Krasnodar, Sochi, Vladivostok, Ufa, Kazan and Kostroma.
