Volume of Cargo Transportation Declined 4,2% in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2012. A volume of cargo transportation declined 4.2% to 6 mln. 922.1 thou. t. in January-September, 2012 as compared with the same period of 2011 in Moldova.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the most drastic decline was registered in railway transportation: 12.7% down to 2 mln. 975.3 thou. t. A biggest share of all cargoes loaded at railway stations of Moldova fell to ferrous metal and scrap and made up 24% against 23.8% in Janary-September, 2011; it was followed by crops and flour production (18.3% against 36.4%); and building materials and cement (26% against 17.4%).
A volume of truck transportation, the share of which made up 55% of the total volume of transportation, grew 3.8% to 3 mln. 842.2 thou. t. About 47% of the cargo were transported by carriers of Chisinau and 10.8% by carriers of Batli. Then follow the regions of Orhei (9.8%), Straseni (4.5%), Nisporeni (4.3%), Aneni Noi (4.2%), Singera (3.4%), Soroca (2.1%), Taraclia (2%) Rezina (1.8%) and Ialoveni (1.7%).
Within this period it was transported 103.4 thou.t. by river transport, 8.5% down as compared with January-September, 2011 and 1.2 thou. t. by air, 10.8% up .
