OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2012.  International Energy Agency (IEA) held a presentation of Energy Policy Review of Ukraine in Kyiv. The presentation took place with the participation of Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency Maria van der Hoeven, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine John Tombinsky.

The presentation was also attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 28 IEA member countries (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Korea, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway (special agreement), Poland, Portugal, USA, Slovakia, Turkey, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan and the European Commission), leading experts in the energy sector, and academia.

Speaking at a presentation, Yuriy Boyko emphasized that the Energy Policy Review, which has prepared by the IEA is crucial for the development of Ukrainian energy sector.

He pointed that the recommendations reflected in the Review of Energy Policy of Ukraine, prepared by the IEA, would be used in the draft Revised Energy Strategy of Ukraine till 2030, which is scheduled to approve soon. "I'm sure that updated Energy Strategy will become our Action Plan to achieve Ukraine's full energy independence," said Yuriy Boyko.

The Minister also highlighted that now Ukraine is actively reforming its energy sector, including brings legislation standards to European ones. According to Yuriy Boyko, it will increase attracting investments in the energy sector of Ukraine and will boost domestic energy production by Ukraine.
