OREANDA-NEWS. October 24, 2012.  Private companies can be involved in rail passenger traffic after the modernization of the Ukrainian railways in 5-6 years.

This was started by vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov during the inauguration of the renovated Slavyansk railway station of Donetsk railway.

According to vice Prime Minister now passenger rail sector is unprofitable, and thus to attract investors to this type of transportation would fail today.

"I think in 5-6 years, when railways will be upgraded, then we can say that private companies can carry passengers" - Boris Kolesnikov said.
