OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. In accordance with the schedule of preventive maintenance for 2012, power unit No.2 was stopped for the preventive maintenance on June 27, 2012. The general contractor for the work is Lenatomenergoremont – a subsidiary of Atomenergoremont, JSC.

The holding assemblers have carried out the following works: Inspection and replacement of cut-off control safety valve trottles, according to the punchlist, replacement of cut-off control safety valve trottles; inspection of technical and circulation water supply pipelines according to the program, elimination of observations, including replacement of pipeline sections according to the results of inspection; as far as metal and welded joints grinding for control is concerned, the pipelines and safety-related systems have been prepared for metal and welded joints operational control (WJ) and technical inspection (TI).

Within the frameworks of follow up control repair of welded joints was performed at ECCS and purge and cooling system pipelines, as well as at downtake pipelines. Also the works aimed to restore HARPS at power unit No.2 of Leningrad NPP were performed.

The works were performed in the reactor and the turbine compartments of the power unit. After completion of preventive maintenance power unit No. was connected to the network . The scheduled medium-scale preventive maintenance is still being carried out at the first power unit of Leningrad NPP. The repair period was extended within the frameworks of work related to control of resource characteristics of reactor system parameters.

Leningrad NPP is a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC. The station is situated on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, 80 kilometres to the west of St. Petersburg. LNPP is the first power plant in the country with reactors RBMK-1000 (uranium-graphite channel-type reactors using thermal neutrons). There are 4 power units operated at NPP with the power 1000MW each.
