OREANDA-NEWS.  October 23, 2012. The decline was explained by a considerable decrease in the yield caused by the summer drought, NBS reports. The decrease made up 33.1% in this branch of agriculture. Livestock production declined 0.3% in January-September, 2012.

According to NBM, the index numbers of agricultural production were aversively contributed to by the crop failure. By rough estimates, the gross wheat crop in all types of farms made up 460 thou. t., 42% down as compared with the same period of the past year. The barley crop made up 110 thou. t., 44% down as compared with the last year. The crops and leguminous capacity averaged 16.4 cwt/ ha, 35% down.

The wheat capacity made up 16.9 cwt/ ha(-39% against 2011), the barely capacity was 14.5% cwt/ ha (-27%), the corn capacity made up 10.3 cwt/ ha (-70%). According to official statistics, in January -September 2012 livestock and poultry production grew 3.5% to 129.6 thou. t . In particular, meat production increased 9% to 34 thou. t. at farms and 1.7% to 95.6 thou. in households. Production of pork increased 6%, mutton by 3.8%, poultry by 0.4% and meat by 0.2%.

Cow milk production declined 3.8% to 395.7 thou. t within 9 months of 2012. In particular, it decreased 4.1% to 383.1 thou. t. in households and grew 8.8% to 12.6 thou. at farms. Egg production declined 11.2% to 459.3 mln. pieces. In particular it decreased 16.5% to 289.8 mln. pieces in households and 0.5% to 169.5 mln. at farms due to a less number of hens and their less fertility.
