OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. More than 231,000 farmers received grant of UAH 183.6 million for the maintenance and keeping of more than 351 000 head of young cattle. This government program of support dairy cattle allowed for 9 months of the current year to increase cattle numbers in households by 1.3% compared to the same period last year.

Currently, cattle’s number in households is 3500.7 thousand, and on farms - 1544.0 thousand heads, which is 0.4% more than the same period in 2011.

In total, Ukraine has 5044.7 thousand heads of cattle, which is 49.9 thousand heads or 1% more than in 2011 year.

As of October 18, 2012, Regions actually received UAH 116.8 million, and the remaining UAH 66.8 million will be directed to 23 October this year after making the relevant documents.

In addition to payment of subsidies for the maintenance and keeping of young cattle, the government directed UAH 10.2 million on purchased by individuals of milking sets in the number of 2355 units.
