OREANDA-NEWS. October 23, 2012. The Federal Antimonopoly Service and the Government of the Republic of Karelia signed an Agreement on Cooperation, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.   

On behalf of the Antimonopoly Service, the Agreement was signed by the Head of FAS Igor Artemiev, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Karelia – the Head of the Republic Alexander Khudilainen.

Igor Artemiev especially emphasized importance of the Agreement as a reliable basis for further strengthening and development of cooperation in the field of competition policy in the region and raising relations with the Government of the Republic of Karelia to a new level. He expressed confidence that joint efforts of the authorities of the Republic and the antimonopoly body will facilitate effective implementation of the competition development programme and help creating conditions for economic growth in the region.

The Agreement is aimed at improving information exchange, in particular, on the state of competition on the markets of the region, and verifying whether prices for energy resources and socially important goods are justified.

Within the Agreement framework, the parties plan to organize mutual consultations, working meetings and topical workshops, Action Plans; it is possible to jointly form working groups to coordinate actions.
