Azerbaijan’s Housing Fund Increased 4-Fold for 10 Years
OREANDA-NEWS. October 18, 2012. Over the past 10 years the volume of construction and assembly work in Azerbaijan increased by 19 times.
Today in the course of the XXXIV meeting of the CIS Intergovernmental Construction Cooperation Council Abbas Alasgarov, head of the State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture of Azerbaijan, has informed that commissioning of a total floor area has increased by 4 times.
"During this period the housing stock totaled 162 million sq m. It made about 18 sq m of living space per capita. In all 60 districts of the country it was fulfilled work on landscaping, built sports complexes, health care and educational facilities, established parks and recreation centers, solved many problems of engineering infrastructure. As a result it was reduced migration of residents from the district centers to the capital," Alasgarov said.
According to Alasgarov, the territorial and administrative division of Azerbaijan today is 10 economic regions, 66 administrative districts and eight centre cities. For the efficient and professional management of the land are needed primarily regional economic development plans of the regions, master plans of cities and in the completion the detailed construction plans (urban land use plans).
"To prevent urban pointwise development of cities the Committee drafted a detailed plan of the central part of Baku (over 1,500 hectares), which clearly defines its transport development, landscaping, the future development of housing and social infrastructure, including regulated density and high-rise buildings.
Thus, every square meter of land is defined in its purpose," Alasgarov said.
