OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2012. This was stated by Chair of the Mineral Resources National Agency of Romania Gheroghe Dutu at a meeting with Premier of Moldova Vladimir Filat and Ambassador of Romania to Moldova Marius Lazurca. Participants of the meeting discussed the whole range of matters of the bilateral agenda in the area of energy, including that of construction of the gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi. Gheorghe Dutu introduced the construction schedule, worked out by the party of Romania, to Vladimir Filat.

Romania is supposed to announce the tender to select a building company in 30 days. According to the head of the Mineral Resources Agency, 7 months will be enough to have the Romanian segment of the gas pipeline constructed. Vladimir Filat told amount steps Moldova has taken in this area: technical documents have been drawn up, the route for laying the gas pipeline has been selected and land lots have been bought.

In November-December, 2012 the Ministry of Economy of Moldova is going to to announce an international tender to select a builder of the main return pipeline Iasi –Ungheni, Minister of Economy of Moldova Valeriu Lazar said earlier.

The construction is assessed at 19 mln. euros. To lay the Moldovan segment of the pipeline is expected to come to 9.1 mln. euros of which 3 mln. euros will be allotted by EU in the framework of the joint Romania-Ukraine-Moldova program.
