OREANDA-NEWS. October 17, 2012. Qatar Petroleum’s Industrial Security Directorate is taking part in Milipol Qatar 2012, the 9th International Exhibition on Internal State Security, reported the press-centre of QP.

Supported by QP as the diamond sponsor, Milipol Qatar 2012 is under the patronage of His Highness the Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The biennial event has been organized by the Ministry of Interior (MOI) since 1996, and this year’s edition of the event has attracted the participation of 265 companies from over 35 countries worldwide.

QP’s strong presence in the event is under the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP.

The QP exhibition stand at Milipol Qatar 2012 features the important role of the Industrial Security Directorate in the corporation’s extensive operations in the oil and gas industry. It highlights the directorate’s valuable work in securing QP’s onshore and offshore assets, and it also showcases the directorate’s various activities, including those related to access control, port patrols, vehicle screening, etc.

It’s also worth mentioning the significant role played by the Ministry of Interior and other national Forces, i.e Lakhwiya and the Armed Forces, to support the role of QP Industrial Security through full collaboration and keen coordination to provide total security and protection for the critical oil and gas infrastructure within QP concession areas.

With Qatar being a member of Contact Group on Piracy off the Coast of Somalia (CGPCS), QP Industrial Security is also an active participant in the United Nations’ anti-piracy efforts.

The directorate’s area of responsibility covers the corporation’s offshore facilities and four onshore locations, namely, Doha Administration, the Dukhan Concession, Mesaieed Industrial City (MIC) and Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC). From its early stages, QP Industrial Security has fully diversified its role and has become an integral support element in QP’s day-to-day operations.

“Milipol Qatar 2012 is an opportunity for us to present our range of activities and programs for ensuring the security of QP’s comprehensive oil and gas assets, all of which are vital in the State of Qatar’s continued growth and development,” said Mr. Abdulaziz Abdulla Ibrahim Al-Ansari, Director of Industrial Security at QP.

“Our strong support to Milipol Qatar 2012 reflects our long-standing commitment to contribute in further strengthening the country’s security and in promoting innovation in security technology and systems,” he added.
