OREANDA-NEWS. October 16, 2012. OJSC ‘Perm Engine Company" will produce about 200 aircraft engines PS-90A-76 to provide the contract for delivery of 39 Il-76MD-90A (Il-476) aircrafts for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. The contract was signed by Mikhail Pogosyan, the President of United Aircraft Building Corporation, and Anatoly Serdukov, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation on the 4th of October after presentation flight of a new military aircraft, which was demonstrated in the presence of Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation.   

Execution of this contract has concluded the discussion of the issue of what power unit should furnish the aircrafts of Russian military and transport aviation of the first of the   XXI century. PS-90A-76 engine is a modified version of PS-90A engine, manufactured by OJSC"Aviadvigatel" and being batch- produced by OJSC ‘Perm Engine Company" since 2005, will replace D-30KP-2 engines, operate on Il-76 aircrafts of all modifications. 

PS-90A-76 engine, certified in 2003, extends the operating conditions of Il-76 family aircrafts and increases the efficiency of the flights.  In particular, comparing it to D-30KP-2 engine, one can notice that the fuel consumption is decreased by 17-19%, and the length of flight raised by 25% (800-1000 km). Also, due to Perm engines, the commercial load of the aircrafts has grown by 15% (up to 60 tons).  PS-90A-76 conforms to the current and to the perspective ICAO requirements concerning noise and hazardous emission, which allows delivering the goods all around the world.

By now OJSC "PMZ" has manufactured 64 PS-90A-76 engines, which are being operated on wings of Il-76TD-90, Il-76MF, А-50 (a long-range radar detection aircraft on the basis of Il-76 airplane) planes in  airlines of 4 countries of the world (Russia, Azerbaijan, India and Jordan).    During this time the engine has proved its highest operating performance. The total operating time of PS-90A-76 engines is almost 160 thousand hours. As on the 1st of October, 2012 the leader engine has operated for more than 9.5 thousand hours (2601 flight cycles) without repair.

- Having signed the contract for Il- 76MD-90А (Il-476) aircrafts delivery we've started the colossal job, which is to be done by Perm motor builders. We had been preparing for this event for a long time.   We have agreed the terms of long-time partnership with our suppliers of units, components and raw materials. At the same time we will start fulfillment of many contracts regarding technological rearming of "Perm Engine Company". But first of all our task is to sign urgently the corresponding agreement with  United Aircraft Building Corporation and Perm Engine Company, which will specify the terms of engines delivery in accord with the schedule of their manufacturing at Ulyanovsk "Aviastar-SP" enterprise. Negotiation process concerning this subject has been run since 2011, and we hope it will be finished soon enough.  

In the whole, the plans of our state concerning increasing of the release and modernization of aviation equipment are large-scale. Their realization will allow fully loading of our production capacities in part of production of aviation purpose equipment, demanding transferring to 3-shift operational mode and hiring about one thousand of high-qualification workers. All this makes us believe in the stable and successful future of our company.
