Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO:6502) today announced publication of the English edition of the Toshiba Group Environmental Report 2012, documenting the achievement of Toshiba's Fourth Environmental Action Plan, covering the period from FY2005 to FY2011. It also details the contents of the Fifth Environmental Action Plan for FY2012 to FY2015 and the company's continuing efforts to realize Environmental Vision 2050, a vision of the world in 2050 where people can lead affluent lifestyles in harmony with the earth.

The report includes the following key sections:
1. Visions and Strategies

This section includes a message from the CEO; a report on progress made under the Fourth Environmental Action Plan; the details of the Fifth Environmental Action Plan; the overview of environmental impacts of Toshiba Group; efforts to support reconstruction from the 2011 earthquake and power saving; and measures to promote smart communities. All of these will contribute to the realization of "Environmental Vision 2050".
2. Greening of Process

Toshiba Group aims to achieve world's lowest level of environmental impacts in manufacturing through contributions to mitigation of climate change; efficient use of resources; management of chemicals; responding to environmental risks; and recycling end-of-life products. This section also introduces the effort to visualize CO2 emissions through the overall supply chain, from procurement of materials to use of products.
3. Greening of Products

Toshiba Group aims to decrease environmental impacts throughout product life cycles toward mitigating climate change; making efficient use of resources; properly managing chemicals; and promoting product eco-efficiency. This section also introduces the environmental performance of 29 products certified as "Excellent ECPs"1 in FY2011.
4. Greening by Technology

Toshiba Group contributes to efforts to slow climate change through renewable energy, conventional energy and technologies for power distribution. This section also introduces efforts to reduce CO2 emission through various technology developments, including high efficiency combined cycle power generation facilities and cutting-edge coal-fired steam turbines.
5. Green Management

This section reports Toshiba Group's environmental management and includes basic policy; management structure; environmental audits; performance evaluations and awards; environmental accounting; conservation of biodiversity; global communications; partnership with stakeholders; and evaluations by third parties. This section also introduces ex-situ conservation initiatives to protect and breed rare flora and fauna, such as Japanese eight-barbel loaches and daylilies, at our production sites and subsequently re-establish them in their original habitats.
Environmental Vision 2050
