Ukraine to Raise Road Construction Standards
OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2012. The Government will raise standards of road construction. That was disclosed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during discussions of the President's Economic Reform Programme implementation with representatives of local authorities and local governments, institutions of social and humanitarian field at the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
"Now we're going to build the main highways. We need all of our regional centers to connect with good ways, and we want to improve the standard of road construction," Mykola Azarov said.
He pointed out the some parts of the highway of international importance Kyiv-Odessa, which was built in 2004, is already in need of repair. "We've linked Kyiv and Odesa with a good road at level of 2004. It's passed 8 years, and it's obvious that it's in need of repair. Roads are not being built for 8 years - roads should be built for 50-100 years, and for that they need to be built as they are being built in Germany, Switzerland, Austria," Mykola Azarov stressed.
