OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. Doctor Web has released an update for its anti-viruses series 7.0, namely, Dr.Web Anti-virus, Dr.Web Security Space, Dr.Web for Windows file servers (no Control Center support). The update delivers improvements for such components as the firewall, scanner, Scanning Engine service, Dr.Web SpIDer Agent, Dr.Web Net Filter for Windows and the Dr.Web Anti-rootkit API library.

Significant changes have been made to the Dr.Web Firewall: UI tweaks are introduced for package filter create and edit rule windows and minor look and feel issues have been resolved. In addition, "Allow once" and "Deny once" rules now apply to the entire application's session.

The updated virus scanner enables users to pause and stop anti-rootkit scanning and select groups of objects by types on the list of detected threats. The Delete option is no longer available for infected e-mail files (now users can choose between Quarantine and Ignore). A number of previously identified errors have been fixed.

The Scanning Engine service received a set of fixes that enhance its performance, in particular, an issue that could occur in Windows versions for the East Asian countries has been resolved. Reliability and stability of the self-protection driver have also been improved.

The updated version of Dr.Web Net Filter for Windows also boasts greater stability. In addition, the Dr.Web Anti-rootkit library has been revamped; issues of Dr.Web Control Service and Dr.Web SpIDer gate have been resolved. An error that didn't allow to update the anti-virus from a shared network mirror directory has been fixed.

The update will be automatically downloaded by the anti-viruses but applying the update will require a system reboot.
