PM of Ukraine: Gas Tariffs for Household Will Not Rise after Elections
OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2012. Tariffs for utility services for households, particularly for the gas, after the elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will not rise. That was declared by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov during a "hot" telephone line organized by the "Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine" newspaper.
"The tariffs for gas after the elections will not rise for the population. We're now thinking about how to reduce tariffs for the industry," Mykola Azarov stressed. He pointed out that the extremely high prices for Russian gas lay down Ukrainian producers under unequal conditions and, therefore, their products are not competitive in the market.
"We're currently negotiating with Russia on this issue and we think by ourselves how to reduce the cost of gas for industry," said the Prime Minister.
He recalled Ukraine has twice reduced the consumption of expensive Russian gas.
