OREANDA-NEWS.  October 09, 2012. Sevastopol unit of Maritime Border Guard of Ukraine received two modern cutters UMS-1000 (BG-16 and BG-17), constructed at the domestic enterprise.

Last year the unit received two cutters of this type, which perform tasks of border guards in exclusively marine (economic) zone.

New boats are different from the previous with modern equipment and improved interior. A cutter has two water-jet boat engines, which allows speeds of up to 40 knots per hour. Now the construction of two more boats of this type for the Maritime Border Guard Service of Ukraine is being completed.

According to the state target law enforcement program "Development and reconstruction of state border" until 2020, we plan to build six cutters of the "Coral" type, 8 cutters of "Orlan" type, 25 small boats of advanced projects, and from 2015 the construction of a multipurpose vehicle with a helicopter on board will be begun. Until the end of 2020 Marine Guard plans to update the ship-cutters formation by 75%.
