OREANDA-NEWS.  October 04, 2012. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, Moldova exported to Russia alcohol products at a sum of USD 14,66 mln.in Q1 , and at a sum of USD 15.44 mln. in Q2. The deliveries were USD 8.25 mln. and USD 8.51 mln. respectively within the same period of the past year.

Russia is the leading importer of Moldovan cognacs and wines. Its share made 28.4% in the total amount of Moldovan export of alcohol goods in Q2, 2012, 28% in Q1, 2012 and 23.3% in Q2, 2011. The Russia is followed by Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Before the wine embargo of 2006, Russia imported about 80% of a total amount of wines, cognacs and sparkling wines from Moldova. For example, in 2005 Moldova exported to Russia alcohol products at a sum of USD 234.92 mln. which was 74.8% of its total export of alcohol products making a sum of USD314.26 mln.
