Qatar Petroleum Sponsors Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo
OREANDA-NEWS. October 04, 2012. Qatar Petroleum (QP) has a strong presence as a sponsor of the event “Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo,” which formally opened at Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Japan, reported the press-centre of Qatar Petroleum.
The five-day event is part of the range of activities for Qatar-Japan 2012, which celebrates 40 years of friendly relations between the two countries. The world ferjaan means “neighbourhood” in colloquial Qatari Arabic, and the event thus showcases a representation of Qatari culture through a traditional souk, which features Qatari heritage as well as the exhibits of leading Qatari companies, such as QP.
The QP booth provides a glimpse of the corporation’s extensive operations in the oil and gas industry. The corporation’s participation in the event as a major exhibitor and one of the main sponsors is under the directives of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP.
“Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo” was inaugurated on September 27 by His Excellency Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) and head of the Qatar-Japan Joint Higher Committee.
H.E. Al-Attiyah and Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado of Japan visited the QP booth, where they were warmly welcomed by the QP delegation who also presented HIH Princess Takamado with a gift. Also among the high-profile visitors was H.E. Mr. Kenjiro Monji, the Japanese Ambassador to Qatar.
Over the past three days, the QP booth has already attracted the interest of a large number of visitors, many of whom have inquired about the role played by Japanese companies in the continued development of Qatar’s oil and gas industry.
Organised by the Qatar Museums Authority (QMA), “Qatar Week: Ferjaan in Tokyo” is an opportunity for QP to further highlight its contribution in serving the world’s rising energy needs as well as in promoting Qatar’s rich cultural heritage worldwide. The event also enables the corporation to express its appreciation to the Japanese companies it has done business with over the past 40 years.
