Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 Shows Great Results
OREANDA-NEWS. October 3, 2012. Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 became one of only three products to achieve “Recommended” status in the complex Proactive Security Challenge 64 test conducted by Matousec.com. 35 security solutions were put through their paces by the reputable Czech-based independent testing lab. The large-scale research was based on 110 tests, each a simulation of malware trying to infect the system using a specific technique. One distinct feature of such testing is that products need to include the most advanced proactive protection methods to stand any chance of achieving a high rating. As a result, 25 products were labeled as providing “zero” protection, while Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 demonstrated the second-best result among security suites.
The Proactive Security Challenge 64 tests were sorted into 11 levels according to complexity. Each product had to block a certain number of threat simulations in order to pass to the next level. In particular, the Matousec team noted complications related to the 64-bit Windows 7 operating system which made it harder for the security products to detect and block certain threats.
Due to the complexity of the tests, no product achieved a 100% rating. Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 showed one of the best results, blocking 95 out of 110 simulated threats and reaching the maximum 11th level with an overall score of 86%. As a result, Kaspersky Lab’s flagship security solution came third in the overall product rating and second among security suites.
Oleg Ishanov, Head of Anti-Malware Research at Kaspersky Lab, said: “Proactive Security Challenge 64 is one of the most elaborate evaluations of protection technologies that allows the best security suites to be assessed in terms of self-defense and protection against the most complex threats. Although testing like this doesn’t accurately reflect real-life scenarios, where multiple technologies combine to protect the user, it does give a valuable insight into how a security solution will cope if malware manages to circumvent a number of security layers, such as signature-based, cloud-based and heuristic detection. This outstanding result for Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 means that our customers will be better protected if they are attacked with one of the most advanced threats.”
