Belarus Imports Sustain Poultry Prices in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. October 3, 2012. Poultry prices in Russia are expected to grow in the near future primarily owing to the fact that poultry producers have been finding its hard to catch up with growing consumption, reckons Albert Davleyev, Vice President of the International Poultry Farming Programme.
Poultry prices have grown from 75 Russian rubles per kilo in late May to 105 rubles in late September, the expert informed. The price growth was slightly offset by growing imports of poultry from Belarus. Since early 2012 Russia imported 100,000 tonnes of poultry from Belarus, Davleyev informed.
The expert believes that poultry prices will continue their ascent because of the growing demand for that product, which is of interest both to retailers and food caterers.
It has been estimated that annual consumption of poultry will grow from 26 kilos per capita in 2012 to 40 kilos in 2020.
