OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2012. Ukraine increases soybean production. Thus, in 2012, it is planned to harvest 2420.0 thousand tons, that by 135 thousand tons more than the previous year. The increase in soybean production will provide livestock with high-quality forage and reduce the cost of animal forage in swine breeding, cattle breeding, poultry keeping and aquaculture.

That was announced by Andriy Hetya, Director of Livestock Department of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food at the Ministry board meeting.

"As by 2020, meat production is planned to be increased up to 3.1 million tons, forage intake will increase to the amount of 20 million. Therefore, the need for soybeans will grow to 3 million tons. Thus, in 2012, it is planned to harvest 2420.0 thousand tons, by 135 thousand tons more than the previous year. Increase of soybeans production will provide animal husbandry with high quality forage and reduce the cost of the animals feeding in pig, cattle, poultry, fish farming," said Andriy Hetya.
