OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2012. The Sverdlovsk Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (Sverdlovsk OFAS Russia) fined “Regional Network Company” OJSC 789,000 Rubles for violating the antimonopoly law, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

In December 2011, Sverdlovsk OFAS Russia found that “Regional Network Company” OJSC abused its market dominance. The company unreasonably restricted electric power consumption at the facilities, to which electric power is supplied under a government contract between “Oboronenergosbyt” and the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation: at the military commissariat and the conscription office in Severouralsk, executing an application of “Sverdlovenergosbyt” OJSC.

“Under the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on the measures towards sustainable functioning of the state security facilities, it is prohibited to restrict electric power consumption on such facilities – military units and other organizations related to military service”, commented the Head of Sverdlovsk OFAS Russia, Tatiana Kolotova.

On 31st July 2012 the 17th Arbitration Appeal Court ruled that that the decision of Sverdlovsk OFAS Russia was reasonable and lawful.
