OREANDA-NEWS. October 03, 2012. The SJSC UZBEKENERGO has received a loan from the World Bank in the amount of USD 110 million for Talimarjan Transmission Project implementation, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services.

The services include the assessment of wind power potential development.

The consultant main tasks shall be but not limited to the following activities:

1.  To develop an information system of Uzbekistan wind power potential, including a wind atlas development and an assessment of wind power potential countrywide;

2. To identify two demonstration areas and carry out detailed meteorological studies to clarify the wind power potential of these areas, taking into account technically feasible potential, environmental and social risks;

3.  To propose amendments to legislation and institutional development in order to improve conditions for wind power development in Uzbekistan.

The Consultant will be engaged between January 2013 and January 2015, on an intermittent basis, under the overall direction of the Project Manager of the PMU.

The SJSC UZBEKENERGO now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant must have IEC 61400-12-1 performance measurement accredited specialists.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004, revised October 2006 edition).
