OREANDA-NEWS. October 2, 2012. Participants of the meeting in the Environmental, Scientific and Educational Center of the Sochi National Park discussed the certification of a number of Olympic venues under BREEAM.

So far, investors into 12 Olympic facilities, including hotels, sports venues, and transport infrastructure, applied for BREEAM (international "green" standard) certification.

Successful certification under the global "green" standard means that environmentally efficient power and water supply concepts were used in designing and construction, environmentally safe materials were applied, and construction was carried out with the minimum environmental effect.

Representatives of BRE Global (a British company that is the developer and the rights holder of the certification system), NP Ecological Construction Council, experts, representatives of SC Olimpstroy and of the investors who erect the Olympic venues and facilities and pass the certification procedure took part in the meeting.
