Prices for Basic Medicines Reduced by 18% in Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. October 02, 2012. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government and economic entities engaged in drug manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade by such means is being performed in full by all parties. Thus, prices for drugs included in the compulsory range of domestic social drugs have already been reduced at 18%.
This was stressed by Oleksiy Solov'ev, the State Service of Ukraine on Drugs head during a round table with representatives of the Government and national pharmacists.
"According to the Memorandum results, it can be stated there have been fully supported initiatives of the Government and the President, and the prices of medicines are included in the list of duties for pharmacies have actually been reduced by 18%. So we almost reached the result," said State Service on Drugs head.
Besides, he added, national manufacturers and distributors have reduced prices for medicines included in the national list by 15%. And drug prices for establishments and health facilities that are being financed by the state budget have decreased by 8%.
"I believe a lot of money has been saved for our patients, for the budget as well. I hope this trend will continue at least until the end of the year, and we will come to understandable mutual relations with pharmaceutical companies," Oleksiy Solov'ev emphasized.
