OREANDA-NEWS. October 01, 2012. The III Russian – American Conference “Modern Antimonopoly Law and Judicial Practice in Russia and the U.S.” took place in Moscow. The Conference was organized by the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia), the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission with involvement of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

In the welcoming address, the Head of FAS Igor Artgemyev informed the Conference about the specifics of the antimonopoly policy in the Russian Federation at the modern stage.

The Conference focused on the three pressing issues: 1) antimonopoly regulation and development of unified approaches to interpretation of the antimonopoly law, 2) enforcement practice, 3) liability for violating the antimonopoly law in Russia and the USA.

Representatives of the law enforcement bodies and judges from Russia and the U.S. had vivid discussions aimed at developing unified approaches to interpretation of the norms of the antimonopoly law and achieving more effective enforcement.

“The Law on protection of competition now includes such institutions as warnings and cautions. These institutions are designed to decrease the number of cases on violating the antimonopoly law considered by the antimonopoly authority as well as courts of law”, the Head of FAS Legal Department Sergey Puzyrevsky stated in his report.

“The Conference is organized already for the third time and the range of participants is expanding, which demonstrates an increased interest to the antimonopoly law and enforcement both in Russia and the USA”, emphasized Deputy Head of FAS Andrey Tsyganov.
