OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2012. Vyksa Steel Works (OJSC VMZ, Nizhny Novgorod region, part of the United Metallurgical Company, CJSC OMK) has obtained a permit from LLC Gazprom VNIIGAZ to use pipes with diameter of up to 1,420 millimeters and wall thickness of up to 25.8 mm, as well as durability category of up to K-60 inclusive, made of plate metal from OMK Plate Rolling Complex Mill 5000 (MKS-5000) for OJSC Gazprom objects.

“A hi-tech plate-pipe chain has started to operate at the Vyksa-based production facility. It helps reduce supply deadlines and costs, ensures through quality control and thus decreases the company’s working capital,” says VMZ’s Executive Director Sergey Filippov.

In total, since April 2012, MKS-5000 has shipped 44,600 tons of plate to VMZ’s large-diameter pipe complex. In order to continue mastering this technology, these new types of products have been included in the enterprise’s nomenclature list.
