Moldova Ranks 62nd by Access to Broadband Internet
OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2012. According to the report by the UN Commission on Broadband Communication, prepared under aegis of UNESCO and the International Telecommunication Union, 9.9% of the population of Moldova are provided with the access to the broadband Internet.
The greatest coverage of the population with this service is registered in Lichtenstein, where it makes 71.6%. The top ten also included Monaco (44.2%), Switzerland (39.2%); the Netherlands (38.7%); Denmark (38,.2%); Korea (36.9%); Norway (36.5%); France (36.1%); Iceland (33.9%); Belgium (33%). The broadband internet is available to 12.2% of the population in Russia, 11.6% in China, 10.7% in Azerbaijan, 7.6% in Georgia, 7.5% in Kazakhstan, 7% in Ukraine, 5% in Armenia, 0.5% in Uzbekistan, 0.3% in Kyrgyzstan and 0.1% in Tajikistan.
In neighboring Ukraine and Romania this indicator makes up 7% (the 72nd ) and 15.4% (the 43rd ) respectively. According to researchers, 3.5% of population of Moldova are admitted to the mobile Internet. To compare: there are 110.9 of subscribers to the mobile Internet per each 100 heads in Singapore, 105.1 in Korea and 93.7 in Japan.
The list of states with the greatest coverage of Mobile internet services also includes Russia (the 16th, 47.9%) ; Kazakhstan (the 25th, 38.4%); Georgia (the 46th, 20.5%) Belarus (the 50th, 18.9%), Uzbekistan (the 52nd, 18.4%), Bulgaria (the 60th, 14.5%), Romania (the 62nd, 14.1%) and Ukraine (the 86th, 4.4%).
