First Vice PM of Ukraine Met with WB Director
OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2012. Conducting rapid reform of housing and communal services, supported by the World Bank, in 3-5 years, will transform this sector into self-sustainable, profitable and interesting for business. That was stated by Valeriy Khoroshkovskyi, the First vice Prime Minister of Ukraine during a meeting with the World Bank Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Chimyao Fan, which took place in Kyiv.
The main attention was paid to the key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank. Valeriy Khoroshkovskyi stressed the Government keeps under constant control of the state of implementation of the Action Plan to ensure the implementation of investment projects of the World Bank in Ukraine for 2012.
According to the First vice Prime Minister, Ukraine has made significant progress in working out the World Bank's recommendations for further reforms in public procurement, anti-corruption legislation, business regulation and VAT refunds, as well as in the issue of Ukraine's accession to the Transparency Initiative in the extractive industries.
"Acceleration of the signing of the EU - Ukraine FTA is considered of interest not only for Ukraine and the EU, for the World Bank as well," Valeriy Khoroshkovskyi stressed.
The parties noted the interest in more active cooperation and continuing a constructive dialogue on cooperation between Ukraine and the World Bank during the Annual Meeting of the World Bank and IMF in Tokyo.
