OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2012. Ukraine is ready to ensure a reliable energy supplies to the European Union., the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko has assured in this of the EU Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger during the meeting held in Brussels.

Yuriy Boyko said the Ukrainian side carries out all the necessary measures to prepare for the autumn-winter period and he emphasized that today all the conditions created in Ukraine for reliable ensure the transit of Russian natural gas to European countries in required quantities.

He also stressed that for Ukraine it is an important support of projects in the energy sector from the EU.

"We are very satisfied with our cooperation with the European Commission, because we constantly feel the support of Mr. Oettinger, the European Commissioner for Energy," said Yuriy Boyko.

During the meeting there were discussed issues of fundraising of European financial institutions in Ukraine's energy sector, modernization of the Ukrainian GTS, preparedness of the Ukrainian gas transportation system and underground storage facilities for the winter period, upgrade Ukraine's Energy Strategy until 2030, prospects of reverse gas supplies from the EU Member States to Ukraine, signing agreements on attraction of funds to improve the safety of Ukrainian NPPs.
