OREANDA-NEWS.  September 26, 2012. The Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko during his working visit to Brussels met with EU Commissioner for Energy Guenther Oettinger.

The issues of attracting financing from the European financial institutions in the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine were the focuses of the interlocutors.

During the meeting there have been discussed issues of the Ukrainian GTS modernization, preparedness of the Ukrainian gas transmission and underground storage facilities for the winter period, prospects of reverse gas supplies from the EU member states to Ukraine, as well as the signing of agreements on attraction of funds to improve the safety of Ukrainian NPPs.

"We discussed a wide range of issues, but most importantly - it were the issues of financing, the issues of investment in our energy sector," Yuriy Boyko commented on the results of the meeting. "Financing from the European banks is especially important for us. And today we decided several issues. Today one agreement will be signed, and pending a few more - on the funding of our gas transportation system and our projects on safety improvement of nuclear energy," said the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine.

"We are with my colleague, Mr. Boyko regularly hold meetings in which discuss issues of existing infrastructure, our plans on the modernisation of transmission system, new environmental projects and what can be done by his country and what can we do as the European Commission and our European banks - the EIB, the EBRD and the World Bank," said in turn Guenther Oettinger.
