Air Astana Donates Playgrounds
OREANDA-NEWS. September 26, 2012. Since Air Astana was launched in 2002, it has supported a widespread charity programme throughout Kazakhstan, with particular focus in helping Children Homes and Internat-schools. In 2012 alone, Air Astana took part in 15 charitable projects and strives to do its part to make life better for underprivileged children in our society, reported the press-centre of Air Astana.
As part of this “Dreams on Wings” activity, an aviation themed craft competition was recently held at the Children Home of Karaganda oblast. All of the participants were awarded valuable prizes, with children submitting the 18 most interesting entries being taken on a flight to Almaty. It was the first time that the children from the home had ever flown, so the trip made a big impression on them. The winners were shown the sights of Almaty, visited the zoo, enjoyed the mountain scenery and spent a whole day at the water park.
In both Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey, “Dreams on Wings” donated games and sports arenas, equipped with the latest facilities, to the Internat-school pupils for children from large and needy families. This event was celebrated at the party for children organised by the airline. The cost of the playgrounds amounted to more than 6 million tenge.
“In 2012, Air Astana launched series of charitable projects around the country. Work is also continuing with our support programme for children in need of urgent treatment in foreign clinics. Our company provides free tickets regularly to children with cancer and cardiovascular diseases, as well as for accompanying adults. In this year alone, the airline has carried more than 30 children and their parents as part of this programme”, said Yerbol Ospanov, Senior Vice President Government, Regulatory Affairs and Security of Air Astana.
