Yanukovych: Poland Is Major Economic Partner of Ukraine
OREANDA-NEWS. September 24, 2012. Poland is a major political and economic partner of Ukraine in Eastern Europe. It was stated by the President at the 11th Economic forum “Ukraine-Poland” in Kyiv.
“Intensity of our economic relations is defined by the high mutual interest and business activity,” the President said.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that at the moment Ukraine faced the task to expand its domestic market of consumption. “Propose the ways to raise the domestic market, suggest programs… We would be pleased to use the mechanism of state-private partnership,” the President addressed the businessmen.
The Head of State stressed that recently trade, economic and investment cooperation of Ukraine and Poland had achieved additional dynamics. He reminded that the year before the trade turnover between our countries reached 6 billion dollars (i.e. 31% of increase) and in the first half of 2012 it had already exceeded 3 billion dollars.
According to the President, Ukraine and Poland had a huge potential of improving the transit system (transport system and transportation of gas and oil).
In his turn, Bronislaw Komorowski noted the importance of supporting small and medium business. “Small and medium business is the source of our success, it provides 70% of jobs in Poland,” he said. The President of Poland also invited Ukrainian businessmen to invest in Poland, and Ukrainian companies – to enter the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
